The Pink October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
A month when all the people come together to spread the awareness about this disease and also help and support the people suffering with the same.

I myself wasn't much educated about Breast Cancer. Always been quite ignorant and scared of the name itself. But then after attending the Breast Cancer Campaign by Elle with Hardrock Cafe - Pinktober, I have come to know a lot about the disease.
The possible causes, the symptoms, ways to self examine yourself and other necessary steps that one should take depending on the age, there is a lot that we were told about.
The entire session included an informative video, and a speech by a very famous Oncologist from the city, and interaction with this lady suffering with Breast Cancer, a lady who has written a book 'A little bit of Pink' which is partially based on her experiences when her Mom went through cancer recovery, and this kind gentleman who contributed in the campaign by buying a guitar in an auction by Hardrock Cafe, where the money would go a patient. Quite an event, surely put me into a bit of deep thoughts.

Here are few things that we should do to insure we stay away from this disease:

Avoid becoming overweight
Eat healthy
* Relax
* Be physically active and exercise regularly
* Don't smoke and drink less (or not at all)
* Breast feed your babies
Eat less fat
Minimize exposure to pharmacologic estrogens and xeno-estrogens
* Walk
* Self Examination from time to time, along with clinical screening.

I also thought I should make a list of foods that help avoiding Breast Cancer naturally, so that all of you can consciously increase the intake of these.

* Broccoli
* Sprouts
* Cabbage
* Spinach
* Tomatoes
* Carrots
* Olive Oil
* Fatty Fish
* Turmeric
* Beans
* Berries

Avoid Red Meat, Sweets, Processed Meat etc.

Hope the article helps, you can also go through other articles and videos online to know more about Breast Cancer. There are various videos available on self examination that you can watch. Also, make sure that after the age of 20, you do a self examination every month, go for screening (once in a year) apart from self examination every month once you are 30, and also go for mammography yearly after the age of 40.

Help each other in spreading the awareness. :)
